Stunning New Coastal & Aquatic Designs by Haven America Debut at Casual Market Chicago
The Haven America team has created “can’t miss” designs they will display at the 2018 Casual Market Chicago. The 25 new pieces—from wall decor to accent tables and trays—contrast simplicity with new materials, simple color palettes, plus neutral additions. All are part of Haven America’s Marsh & Shore Collection for 2019.
New materials feature reclaimed wood paired with crisp white prints, smooth acrylic and distressed metal, as well as neutral additions to the Wall Decor Collection.
“Our design team has incredible insights on color, textures and materials for today’s coastal homes,” said Greg Morris, owner and partner of Haven America. “With these new additions, we’re mixing two ends of the spectrum—from glossy to distressed, old to new—and showing how they come together to create beautiful, authentic designs.”
The Rustic & Tin group celebrates the beauty of decay, incorporating engaging images with a tropical touch. By printing directly on distressed tin combined with the natural deep brown of reclaimed wood, patinas in a variety of tones are created so that crisp white images float like a breeze on a tropical day.
"The seven unique palm trees of this group are my favorite. In a stunning scale of over 6 feet, it feels like you’ve brought a tree inside,” comments Susan Havens-Morris, creative director for Haven America. “It’s an impressive focal point in a room, a bold but screened element that feels right in the environment. It’s like the nature that surrounds us outside has come inside.”
The Acrylic & Metal Group is full of history, character and charm and evokes the feeling of a coastal marsh. “Working with acrylic, we were immediately aware of light and the delicate images and shadows that feel modern against the vintage distressed metal frames. The contrast between old and new is striking,” said Havens-Morris. “It reflects light in a way we are not used to seeing and is inspiring and beautiful—a combination of artistry with craftsmanship. It’s an opportunity to reintroduce coastal imagery as modern wall sculpture by aesthetically stitching together exterior nature images with the interior.”
Carved Shark & Swordfish is crafted on a textural plane. Nature-inspired with neutral vintage raw wood, it shows the beauty of basic design. Choose one of seven, deep, rich base colors to reveal simple carved images a swordfish, shark or octopus, which can transform any room into a rustic seaside retreat.
New Accent Tables are modern, yet classic and tantalizingly fresh. Offered as round or square and in three sizes, the deep, rich brown tones of reclaimed wood sides incorporate customizable images. Coordinating throughout Haven America’s ever-expanding beach and coastal offerings and a 27-color palette, the design possibilities are endless. They are available in indoor or outdoor finishes, too.
Further expanding design horizons, Haven America is offering new trays—the perfect pairing with accent tables. These feature a wide choice of images, and the 27-color palette complements beach themes.
Rounding out the new additions, Marsh & Shore showcases the bounty of the sea with lobsters, crabs, shrimp and fish all done in an illustrative style. Nautically inspired and printed on hand-painted panels, in a range of sizes ranging from18 to 48 inch squares, these give a sense of freshness to a kitchen, dining room or patio.
Haven America was created by Gregory Morris and Susan Havens-Morris—two designers who met while studying graphic design at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. They created their first line of wall art under the name Slippin’ Southern on Easy.com with a few Southern word signs and some cut-out letters. Today, they have grown into a lifestyle decor destination for online shoppers and offer over 1,000 different creations. Their Chicago studio is where they design and manufacture all of their work. Most popular categories include Beach/Coastal, Holiday, Nursery/Kids, General Home Decor, Words/Letters along with the original Southern signs. In addition to their made-to-order pieces, they do custom orders for commercial projects, including restaurants, retail stores, hotels, medical offices and vacation properties.
