The inspiration behind this white whale art is just how big the whale had become to Captain Ahab in his mind. The eye of the white whale is made up of a silhouette of the captain walking up the huge white whale. Harpoon in his hand he is going to get Moby Dick.
The large white whale takes up most of the foreground, the background is the black water he is swimming up from. Engraved cross-hatching surrounds the whale image, blue paint is rubbed into the ground. The natural texture and grain from the wood show through the skin of the whale emulating his years at sea.
Each piece is all handcrafted from wood, hand-painted and for the finishing touch, we have added a unique reclaimed wooden lath frame. They are true works of art and each is uniquely created for you.

The darkness of the Pequod is illustrated above the deep ocean water as the harpoon races down. Moby Dick dives deeper, evading the harpoons from the ship.
