It depicts a Ming Double Happiness symbol painted on a vase overflowing with one huge Pink Peony Flower. Bright florescent paint on the bottom retains the glamour of Chinoiserie but feels thoroughly current. The Flower is created with layers of textured paint to build the depth of the flower.
This painting is a modern take on all the blue and white porcelain vases that filled American homes in the '70s. From Artist Susan Havens-Morris's newest series she calls "LIFE," rich moments of her growing up in the '60s and '70s. The work is vibrant with varied textures and exuberant colors, an aesthetic she developed over a lifetime surrounded by influential art.
