This piece features a quote from Queequeg in His Coffin chapter of Herman Melville's Moby Dick. So much can be gleaned from each chapter, but this one is a particular favorite, the intriguing mystery that is Queequeg continues to unfold again in this chapter. His stark difference from anybody else of the time, the unknown place he comes from, his matter a fact nature, his mystery unfolds more and more. This is such a visually rich quote, we just love it!
We select strong, meaningful quotes for all the Book Plates, you will find yourself reading them over and over. The entire collection of quotes consists of nine. Such a great piece of literature to bring into your decor. It is the perfect fit obviously for nautical decor, but also for the literature lover.

Our Avalon Starfish is a great beachy accent to your cottage, beach house or lake house or to bring that nautical feel home. Being a Florida boy, beaches are part of growing up in the Red Neck Rivera, on those majestic sugar sand beaches, y'all! The starfish we would find were never this big or complete on the shore; you would occasionally find a perfect little one. This one is named after Avalon Beach, a small grassy marsh along the shores of Escambia Bay in the panhandle of Pensacola, Florida.

We then paint the background and solid swans by hand with acrylic water-based paint. Once dry, we rub our desired accent colors into the lines to make each Swan pop against its background. Last, we build up multiple layers of paint to recreate the water surrounding the swans in their natural water habitat. Once complete, we hand-build a rustic reclaimed wood frame and attach it to the background. Each framed painting includes picture wire on the back for quick and easy hanging on any wall.
